Unwinnable Caption Competition - 200115

Sponsored by "Charles Mingus".

Finished work on the track. More editing that dubbing-up per se, and I probably could keep at it forever, but ya gots ta stop sometime.

Delighted with the track - it's a cracker! It's got a Can vibe with a Wobblesque bass line. What's not to like?

Time to move on. Hope to sneak in some work at the weekend.

Me & The Fly - 131014

Sponsored by "Be Bop Deluxe"

Frustrating, but ultimately successful tracking session today - tracked 11 Ric bass parts on the Tascam 2488 using the Line 6 Bass Pod XT. Audio cleanup in AA3 and inserted into the relevant project file in CE5.

The beats are inspired, in part, by this:-

And everything progressed nicely, until I found myself doing a variation of the bass riff off "Whole Lotta Love", and followed that with a vaguely sub-prog melodic bass line which finishes with a Wobble-esque flourish.

Something odd in the water today, obviously...;-).

Found the simple parts difficult to play, and the difficult parts easy. What's with that?

More work tomorrow.

Helicopter Shots Of The City - 280814

Sponsored by "January 2014" and "Japan/David Sylvian/Mick Karn".

Programmed a variety of MIDI drum parts in CE5, using the Roland Juno-D/Phonic Firefly/HALion One Jazzy Kit/Kore Player Sky Kit.

I hear a nice Wobble-esque bass line behind this. But that won't be for a while.

Two road trips over the weekend. Only one of them will be enjoyable...:-(.

Ah, me.

Tropes and Memes - 050614

Sponsored by "Ade Hodges".

Tracked 12 Ric bass parts on the Tascam 2488 using the Line 6 Bass Pod XT. Audio cleanup in AA3 and inserted into the relevant project file in CE5.

11 of the parts are short loops with slight variations between them, while the last part is a "wild" part, a run through of a single bass parts with (undoubtedly) lots of errors, but there may be something interesting that I can edit out of it.

The intention is to a have a repetitive Wobblesque bass line with some variations. Hopefully it should all edit together nicely.

More work tomorrow.

You'll Never Miss Your Mother Till The Well Runs Dry - 110514

Sponsored by "Jah Wobble".

After my spell "out forrin" last week, I finally got a change to get back in the saddle today.

Programmed various MIDI drum parts in CE5, using the Roland Juno-D/Phonic Firefly/Kore Player Sky Kit/HALion One Jazzy Kit. All edited and everything.

More programming tomorrow.

Unwinnable Caption Competition - 170214

Sponsored by "Amon Duul I and II".

Back in the saddle after a brief work-related trip abroad last week. And I'm still not over my recent bout of illness, so I'm wasn't feeling particularly inspired to start something new today.

Instead, I decided to have a go at editing the Ric bass parts in CE5. I have the main bass line sorted, which is Wobble-esque in its repetitiveness, but with some variations chucked in. Not finished yet, but not far off it.

On the basis that I'll be similarly uninspired tomorrow, I'll try and finish the bass parts then and move on to the Squier Strat parts.

And that's how we keep plugging away at a project. Bit by tedious bit...;-).
